Techniques: Encrusting
Reduce doubles or multiples when planting
The exact placement of seeds during planting is important to many growers. Encrustment on seed is commonly used in those situations when growers primarily intend to reduce doubles or multiples when planting rather than achieve exact and consistent seed spacing. Encrustment is often used on crops that beneift from seed singulation but don't require post-emergence thinning. Used within these considerations seed encrusting can be more economical than pelleted seed.
